Our First Ultrasound!

Today was such an emotional day (in the best way possible of course). We had our very first ultrasound today! I was so nervous going into this appointment today. Every single thought was going through my head "what is my baby going to look like?", "will he/she be growing properly!?", "will there be a heartbeat?". Every single question goes through your mind during your first ultrasound and it is honestly probably the scariest morning of your life.

We walked into the ob/gyn office and both Jordan and I were definitely nervous and excited at the same time. We checked in and sat on this couch in the corner while we waited for the nurse to call our name back. As we were waiting, a few other pregnant mothers came in and also check in and take a seat on the different couches that are in the waiting area. It is so weird seeing other pregnant woman that actual have big baby bumps when mine is virtually non existant. I can't wait until the day that I have a big baby bump and it is noticeable! I am so excited for the days when I can feel this little baby kicking and feel him or her in my tummy! Ugh, so many emotions!

While in the middle of day dreaming about when my bump will get bigger, I hear "Reynolds" and snap out of it. I see the nurse and we get up off the couch and head back to the exam room. I am told to lay on the bed and undress from the waist down. Since it is so early, they have to do a vaginal ultrasound as opposed to a stomach ultrasound so that my OB could get a better view of the baby! Luckily, I wore a long and flowy sundress today so it was really easy to just take off my underwear and I lied down on the bed with a sheet covering the bottom half of my body.

Within ten minutes, my OB knocks on the door and comes inside the room and introduces herself. We haven't met her at this point, so she is asking how both Jordan and I are and if we are excited. She continues on with asking some questions and then the nurse knocks on the door and wheels in an ultrasound machine. She asks if I am ready and I can feel my heart pounding through  my chest almost! I lay back and she puts my legs into the stirrups attached to the bed. She puts some gel on the ultrasound wand and says that I will feel some pressure. We look up at the monitor and in 3...2....1 a little gummy bear sized baby is on the screen!

I immediately start crying, because right there in front of my eyes, is my baby. Little baby Sargent was wiggling away and has little nubs for arms and legs currently. We listen to the babies heart beat and I am just overwhelmed with emotion. This is all real for me now! Our baby has a strong and healthy heartbeat and is growing perfectly on track. My OB gives me my estimated due date of January 2nd 2018 and now the countdown to January officially begins!
